In Maua, we have a friend named Fridah. She owns a small shop and is very active in community projects, has a ministry for street boys, and is a leader in the church. We first met Fridah 5 years ago and have watched her overcome many challenges; being abandoned by her husband, losing her home and possessions to a fire, and just last year she was just recovering from a broken foot. Also she has a young son that she is raising on her own. We have known her as a kind and selflessly giving person but we were really were moved to tears by her care for us this year.
When she learned that our team's luggage did not arrive, Fridah brought care packages of clothing, undergarments, caps, handkerchiefs, and even hygiene products to us at our hotel on Sunday evening. Mind you that Fridah really has so little, yet she shared with us so generously. This is a recurring theme in Kenya.
