Maua Hospital has greeted our team warmly. We have seen many friends who all inquire
about our health, our families, our congregation, and supporters. Its touching that they remember us, some even
know our children’s names and we theirs.
These friends have woven themselves into our lives over a few years and
we (I) am richer for it.
There is always progress being made at the hospital and
always setbacks that they overcome. As
the hospital struggles to maintain services to the very poor, they are set on
providing the best care they can with limited resources. Dr. Inoti, the Medical Officer In Charge, Mr.
Mailutha, the CEO, and many other vital members of the Health Management Team had
tea with us yesterday morning. The
resounding theme was “THANK YOU GERMANTOWN UMC.” They make it very clear that our (including
Methodist Healthcare Memphis) partnerships with them have made giant
contributions to the hospital. I wish that
you all could hear personally the grace, eloquence, and sincerity with which
they express their gratitude.
The Chaplain exchange program has been embraced warmly and
Rev Dan welcomed by Rev Alexander and Rev Grace. On Monday he spent his day visiting patients
and sharing ideas about the many roles of Chaplain the Church in healthcare. After
a hospital tour the team dispersed to their various assignments. Work on the house progressed well.
As usual the local children and adults gather around to get
in on the fun.
Work at the construction work at the hospital is
focused on completing the “flats”, apartments that provide housing for medical interns and physicians that serve at the hospital. This is an essential component to getting staff to serve at the hospital.
