Friday - last day at Maua. Yesterday was an emotional day for me. It was one week since we left home. I was tired, overwhelmed by a feeling of hopelessness and homesick. Reality hit me after seeing just a photo of a boy admitted to the hospital yesterday who was malnourished and had such sores on his feet that he couldn't walk. After talking with Deborah and praying, I took a short rest. I awoke renewed with a new spirit. God is here; obvious in the Kenyan's smiles, hospitality and faith in God.
The Aids Orphans House dedication was this afternoon. The grandmother and her two grandchildren were so grateful for their new home! Many in the community joined the celebration. This is one of many reasons we are here! God is good, all the time!
We had high tea at Stanley and Mary Gitari's house afterwards. The team shared thoughts and feelings after dinner. Arthur Jackson, our team member from Manchester in the UK shared his faith story with the team. He has been such a blessing! We all are so glad he has been part of the group.
